Writing a blog isn’t straightforward. Or, to be more precise, writing this particular blog isn’t. It might look easy, but that’s where you’d be wrong. The problem is that you don’t have many words to express yourself. It’s usually a thousand maximum, I’ve been told. In this place though it’s much less. People don’t have time to read nowadays. They get bored easily and their minds start wandering. So I’ve been ordered to keep it short and snappy – no more than two hundred. And then there’s the instructions on style and tone: personal but not familiar, conversational but not colloquial. And above all else, not disrespectful. That’s the most important part. I can’t afford to lapse into anything that can be vaguely construed as insolent………
